Equitable to add RxFood to all group benefits plans at no cost
March 16, 2026 – Equitable® is expanding its commitment to preventive health by giving all group benefits plan members free access to the RxFood nutrition platform, effective April 1, 2026.
The platform, which is powered by artificial intelligence (AI), will be added to every Equitable group benefits plan at no additional cost – allowing plan members to sign up, download the RxFood mobile app from the App Store or Google Play, and start tracking their meals. When they do, they’ll receive personalized nutrition insights, practical tips and tailored recommendations to support their health goals and help prevent or manage chronic health conditions.
“Good health often stems from everyday choices—especially what we eat,” says Don Bisch, Director, Group Product and Marketing at Equitable. “By partnering with RxFood, we are supporting better health for our group benefits plan members. We’re excited to help more Canadians eat better – and feel better.”
Turning everyday meals into meaningful insights
RxFood allows users to take photos of their meals using their smartphone. The app assesses the nutritional quality of what’s on the plate – including calories, protein, fat and fibre.
After several days of logging, users receive a comprehensive nutrition summary that shows how their eating patterns align with their personal health goals. From there, RxFood continues to deliver personalized feedback, recipe suggestions, grocery planning tools and practical food swaps –making it easier to make informed steps every day.
RxFood also provides a Mediterranean Diet Score. The Mediterranean diet is widely used in clinical settings to help reduce the risk of chronic conditions and improve health outcomes for people managing high cholesterol, diabetes and other chronic conditions.
People with diabetes who use a Dexcom continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system can connect it to their RxFood account. This allows them to see how different foods affect their blood glucose levels and make more informed food choices.
A clinically validated Canadian platform
RxFood is Canada’s first clinically validated nutrition platform using AI-powered technology to analyze meals and translate them into actionable health insights. The platform is trusted by leading health-care institutions across the country, including SickKids Hospital, Diabetes Canada and CHEO (Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario), to support improved health outcomes through nutrition.
By adding RxFood to its group benefits offering, Equitable aims to make personalized nutrition guidance more accessible and support members in making healthier choices as part of their everyday lives.
